Each silica gel crystal absorbs liquid on contact, locking in moisture instantly to keep the tray dry and comfortable for your cat. Unlike clay litters, the crystals do not clump. Liquid is absorbed directly into the crystal structure and odour is neutralised at the source.
For one cat, a full tray change is typically needed every three to four weeks, which is significantly longer than most clay or clumping litters. While the upfront cost per bag may be higher, crystal litter tends to work out more economical over time.
We recommend crystal litter for cats over 12 weeks of age. Very young kittens may ingest litter while grooming, so a fine-grain or kitten-safe litter is a better starting option.
